Teaches, advises and mentors students, evaluates student performance, and maintains department and student records in accordance with university policies. Adheres to the educational philosophy of the university. Works in a collaborative manner with colleagues and professional peers. Participates in university meetings that relate specifically to faculty. Serves on department, college, and university committees as requested. Prepares departmental reports as requested. Engages in teaching, service, and scholarly and/or creative activities as defined by the tenure and promotion policy in the UCO Employee and Faculty Handbook. Teaching, research, departmental/school and university service is expected. This position is full-time, tenure-track position.
Humanities professors teach core curriculum ancient through modern western Humanities classes, which focus on the cultural history of artistic media and ideas, as well as upper-year undergraduate and graduate (M.A.) classes in several areas of the discipline. The successful applicant will be expected to teach upper-level courses on the Early Modern/Renaissance period or later.
Teaching, research, departmental/school and university service is expected. An earned doctorate degree awarded by a regionally accredited or internationally recognized institution in the field specified in the position announcement (exceptions require Academic Affairs approval). **NOTE** If the doctorate is not obtained and submitted by the time of employment, the position rank will change to TT-Instructor.
Ph.D in a Humanities discipline required, with a documented ability through graduate coursework or teaching experience to use interdisciplinary methods in teaching courses that incorporate visual arts, music, literature, and ideas. Competence in a European language desired for potential departmental study tours.
Ability to perform institutional committee and service work. Position also has a research and creative activity requirement.
