College/Department Overview

The College of Business has 76 full-time faculty and 40 part-time faculty in 6 academic departments - Accounting, Economics, Finance, Information Systems & Operations Management, Management, and Marketing. The College currently offers 13 undergraduate majors serving more than 2,500 students, and 2 graduate programs serving more than 100 students combined. Position Overview

 

A Temporary Instructor provides a quality learning experience for students on a semester basis. Performs instruction-related duties and responsibilities in a timely manner and in accordance with the mission, policies and procedures of the college. The relationship of the adjunct faculty member to the student is one of teacher and facilitator of learning. Teaching and departmental/school service expected.

Department Specific Essential Job Functions

Teach 12/12 load at all levels of the graduate and undergraduate curriculum and in online and campus-based formats.

Teaching will typically focus on starting or bringing innovations to a program but can extend beyond the parameters of the program to meet needs of the assigned college and may also include team teaching to support sharing of innovative blended learning methods with staff and faculty.

Contribute to faculty development, mentoring, and training responsibilities focused on blended learning.

Advance interdisciplinary connections and partnerships.

Develop strong connections between the program and the OKC metropolitan area and UCO Downtown.

Promote growth in courses, undergraduate and graduate programs, and student learning experiences.

Teach a minimum of two online, hybrid or IVC courses in the semester, and a minimum of one face-to-face or hybrid course in downtown Oklahoma City. Overall, teaches 4 sections per semester, advises and mentors students, evaluates student performance, and maintains department and student records in accordance with university policies.

Work with Department, CeCE, and other key stakeholders to focus on fostering creative new approaches to delivering online programs in business. In this work, incumbent will also strategically develop and maintain a network of industry and other external organizational partners in order to serve the educational and/or developmental needs of partners.

Complete Edu-Innovator training programs for blended learning environment design and delivery, leadership development, and online course facilitation as arranged and provided by The Center for eLearning and Connected Environments.

Adheres to the educational philosophy of the university.
Works in a collaborative manner with colleagues and professional peers.
Participates in university meetings that relate specifically to faculty.
Serves on department, college, and university committees as requested.
Excellence in teaching and demonstrated excellence and/or potential in scholarly activities required.

The growth of eLearning at the University of Central Oklahoma has presented new opportunities to expand student learning opportunities by providing an increasing number of eLearning courses and programs. A key element of this growth is the employment of specialized candidates with the expertise, training and time to focus on the delivery of these courses and programs for the University of Central Oklahoma.  We desire an individual who has significant experience with online and blended learning, including but not limited to expertise with D2L (Desire to Learn Learning Management System), course development, assessment, and/or online program development and assessment.

 

Qualifications/Experience Required

An earned degree Master’s degree awarded by a regionally accredited or internationally recognized institution in the field specified in the position announcement (exceptions require Academic Affairs approval).
Possesses excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Possesses excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

Teaching, research, departmental/school and university service is expected.
Ph.D. in Management or related discipline.
Demonstrated excellence in scholarly activity.
Strong written and oral communication skills.

Excellence in teaching and demonstrated potential to publish high quality scholarly research.
Previous teaching experience in higher education environment at level of teaching assistant or higher is required.
Candidate must provide evidence of
teaching effectiveness/excellence.

 

Physical Demands

Repetitive movement of hands and fingers – typing and/or writing. Frequent standing, and/or sitting. Occasional walking, stooping, kneeling or crouching. Reach with hands and arms. Visually identify, observe and assess. Ability to communicate with supervisor/students/colleagues. Regular physical attendance required.
