    Position Overview

    Temporary Lecturer provides a quality learning experience for students. Performs instruction-related duties and responsibilities in a timely manner and in accordance with the mission, policies and procedures of the college. The relationship of the Lecturer faculty member to the student is one of teacher and facilitator of learning. Teaching and departmental responsibilities expected.

    Department Specific Essential Job Functions

    The teaching load is 6 credit-hours per semester. Primary teaching responsibilities will include undergraduate courses in introductory creative writing and upper-division and master's-level courses in playwriting or screenwriting. Additional responsibilities will include mentoring graduate students, serving on master's thesis committees, participating in Creative Writing Program events, and helping to build an active community of writers.

    Qualifications/Experience Required

    An earned degree Master's degree awarded by a regionally accredited or internationally recognized institution in the field specified in the position announcement (exceptions require Academic Affairs approval). Possesses excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

    Qualifications/Experience Preferred

    A Ph.D. or MFA in Creative Writing with specialization in playwriting or screenwriting. Special consideration will be given to writers with experience in an additional genre.     An active publication record, and a commitment to high-quality teaching are required.
